Primary Campus Weekly Update

Primary Campus Weekly Update - Primary Campus Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

On Saturday, NAIS Hong Kong were invited to attend the second HKIME International Choir Festival here in Hong Kong.

Ms. Martin and Mr. Yew were there to lead our proud Key Stage 2 choir alongside other top international schools. The audience of supportive parents and passionate music teachers were suitably enthralled by wonderful young voices singing as one – it was powerful and uplifting.

Term 3 is marked by a season of performances for schools, and we acknowledge that ‘the arts’ gives our children so many opportunities. They build confidence, creativity, and resilience. Stepping onto a stage teaches students to embrace vulnerability, project their voices, and collaborate as a team. Whether in a Primary Showcase or Class Assembly, through song, dance, or drama, performing in front of an audience fosters self-expression, sharpens focus, and nurtures empathy as performers connect with their audience.

These skills extend far beyond the stage, helping our children communicate effectively, manage nerves, and approach challenges with courage. In each performance throughout the school year, teamwork comes alive as classes collaborate, problem-solve, and support their classmates like a true ensemble.

What remains in store for our school community, this week we have our Summer Concert, just around the corner the show-stopping spectacle of Shrek the Musical, as well as Prize Givings, Year 6 Graduation and several class parties still ahead – blink and you’ll miss it!

In the midst of celebrating our Performing Arts, we still have a sharp eye on academic progress and celebrating writing across school. Last week, our talented Primary Writing Lead, Ms. Hetherington, sent our whole school into a lofty celebration of writing – with the theme ‘Around the World in 80 Stories: Writing Day’, and a clear aim to ensure children have fun with writing to allow them to show their creativity and imagination.

In every class, from Year 1 to Year 6, children took part in exciting and engaging writing journey across the world! You may have heard about Pipo the Panda’s travels through Asia, a chapter of a story about an adventure through South America, stolen objects and missing characters in Barcelona or missing pretzels in Berlin! It proved to be a brilliant day for our children to immerse themselves in writing and creativity.

Finally, I would like to thank all parents who completed the recent FOBISIA questionnaire ahead of the visiting Team’s onsite school visit this week. As the school moves to join FOBISIA, we recognise the many opportunities it brings our children and school community.

I do hope the creativity and buzz around writing ebbed into homes over the weekend.
