Dear Parents,
What an incredible International Day we had last week! The entire school was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated the rich diversity of our NAIS Sai Kung community. It was truly heartwarming to see the children embrace different cultures with such enthusiasm and curiosity.
A Dazzling Parade of Colors & Cultures
The day began with our spectacular International Parade, where the children proudly wore clothing or colours representing their country, culture, or heritage. Seeing them march, waving flags and sharing their backgrounds—was a beautiful reminder of how lucky we are to be part of such a global community. A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us to cheer them on!
Traveling the World, One Classroom at a Time
Our little explorers embarked on a global adventure, visiting different "countries" set up in each classroom. From Hong Kong’s glittering skyline to New Zealand’s majestic landscapes, Japan’s cherry blossoms, the UK’s royal history, Indonesia’s vibrant traditions, and more—the children immersed themselves in fascinating facts about each place. They learned about:
• Landmarks & landscapes
• Unique animals
• Traditional foods
• Different languages
The excitement was palpable as they collected "passport stamps" and shared their discoveries with friends.
A World of Flavours at Our International Food Fair
The Food Fair was undoubtedly a highlight. The children (and teachers) loved sampling delicious foods from around the world. It was wonderful to see so many of them bravely trying new foods—some even discovered new favourites! A special thank you to the parents who contributed dishes or helped organise this feast. Your support made it an unforgettable experience.
Why International Day Matters
At NAIS Sai Kung, we believe celebrating diversity is at the heart of raising compassionate, globally minded citizens. Days like this help our children:
🌍 Appreciate differences and similarities
🌏 Develop curiosity about the world
🌎 Build respect for all cultures
These experiences lay the foundation for them to become true global citizens—open-minded, empathetic, and connected to the wider world.
A Heartfelt Thank You
A very special thank you to our very own ‘Pearly Queen’ Ms. Lewsey, from all of us at NAIS Sai Kung, for organising the whole day. None of this would have been possible without Ms. Lewsey and the support of our amazing parental community. Whether you attended the parade, volunteered in a country classroom, or contributed to the Food Fair, your involvement made the day extra special. Thank you for helping create such magical memories for our children.
Coming Up...
Stay tuned for more adventures as we approach the end of the term, including our Sea Scouts outings, a visit from Tim Richardson (our in –coming Principal) and Lions Nature Park trip for Nursery.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
Yours sincerely,
Ruth Hanson
