Admissions are now open for 2025/2026
Name and a little bit about you:
Hi, I’m Sam Bingham. I have been an English and History teacher for 8 years.
Where is “home” for you?
Home is a place called Louth – a North-Eastern County in Ireland (the smallest). Specifically, I’m from a town called Ardee. It is quite a rural place– everyone knows everyone else! I have four siblings and two parents who still all live there. I’ve been abroad for five years now (London, Luton, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi – this is my second year in the city).
What do you do in Abu Dhabi?
Running, lots of running. Hunting for great restaurants or going to the movies with my friends. I also have a weakness for quiz nights.
Tell us something that few people know about you:
I dabbled in journalism for several years, locally. I was a moderately okay middle-distance runner and have Leinster (a province in Ireland) medals for 800m, 1500m and 3,000m.
What is your favourite thing about being a part of the BIS Abu Dhabi community?
The staff, students and parents have been very welcoming. I feel part of something wholesome.
What do you enjoy most about living in Abu Dhabi?
It would be quicker to list the things that I don’t enjoy.
Anything else you would like to share?
Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Sam Bingham, English Teacher
It’s something I’ve believed for a long time — that learning isn’t predetermined by our genes. It’s about growing, persevering, and learning through the process. I was really mindful of this idea at this week’s wonderful Primary Summer Concert, after which I found myself reflecting on whether these amazing children have an innate talent, or whether they have achieved so much because of hard work and practice.
I believe it’s the latter. These children, their parents, and their teachers all seem to share the belief that by trying and working hard, they will get better at what they do. This is what we call a growth mindset.
On 22nd May, BIS Abu Dhabi proudly celebrated the graduation of our incredible Class of 2025. This special event brought together students, families, and staff to celebrate a milestone that was years in the making, one filled with dedication, friendships, and unforgettable memories.
The school auditorium was filled with pride and excitement as the ceremony unfolded. Read on to relive the highlights of this special day.
At BIS Abu Dhabi, we believe that when families and schools team up, incredible things happen. We’re proud to have won the MENA School Excellence Award 2025 for Parent Partnership, but this award is about more than just recognition. It’s about the people, the conversations, and the community that make it all possible. Read on to discover how we’re making a difference together.
