Theatre and performance is all about giving voice to people and issues that theatre makers believe in. Global Campus have created a wonderful opportunity for students to lend their voice to the issue of Climate Change.
As part of Global Campus Drama Week, Nord Anglia students across the globe are being tasked to create and perform 1-3 minute monologues about climate change, over the course of five lessons. It is a chance for students to add their voice and thoughts to an aspect of climate change that they feel passionately about, through a character they have created.
For example, a student may choose to be the voice of the Sea talking about plastic and its effects on them and their ability to breathe, or an animal discussing the loss of habitat, or a member of an indigenous tribe telling the world about the loss of their land and homes, or a young school student, simply telling us about their concerns for the world. The way in which a student chooses to give voice to this incredibly important issue is up to them.
A dedicated area on Global Campus will show students how to research a topic, create a character, and craft an interesting and dramatic monologue. The final lesson invites students to perform and share their monologues to earn badges in Creativity, Communications and Courage.
Click here to access the Global Campus website to get involved. Students will need to login to their Global Campus account.
