Admissions are now open for 2025/2026
Hi, my name is Leila and I am from England and Thailand. I am 12 years old and am in Year 8. I was born in Poole, England, and moved to Saudi Arabia when I was 2 years old. I lived there for 5 years and then moved to Abu Dhabi in early 2015, which is when I joined BIS Abu Dhabi in Year 2. I have enjoyed my school experience here ever since...thanks to all my teachers. You know who you are! :)
I am an active member of the school community and have participated in such activities as the BSME U11 Games where I was captain of the Junior Swim Team, the UAE National Day dance (choreographed by Mrs Lowe), the Cinderella Rockerfella Production as well as helping out on Open Days and Transition Days from Primary to Secondary.
Since moving to Abu Dhabi I have taken up figure skating and have competed in many competitions in the UAE and Thailand, as well as attending summer training camps in Italy, Malaysia, and most recently in Czech Republic. During this summer (as we could not travel overseas due to COVID-19) I took up scuba diving and became a certified PADI Open Water diver. I am looking forward to diving in other places once the travel restrictions have eased.
I’m still considering what to do once I’ve graduated (still quite a few years!) but I love drawing, engineering-based activities and maths, so I think being an architect would be the best job option for me to combine my skills.
At BIS Abu Dhabi, we believe that when families and schools team up, incredible things happen. We’re proud to have won the MENA School Excellence Award 2025 for Parent Partnership, but this award is about more than just recognition. It’s about the people, the conversations, and the community that make it all possible. Read on to discover how we’re making a difference together.
At BIS Abu Dhabi, inclusion isn’t a separate initiative, it’s the foundation of everything we do. From the moment a student joins us, they are welcomed into a caring, respectful, and inclusive environment, guided by the values of Kindness, Honesty, and Respect. Discover how this ethos shapes every classroom, corridor, and connection in our school community in this blog.
Step into any vibrant Early Years classroom, and you'll likely hear the joyful hum of children deep in play - building, pretending, exploring, and negotiating their world. To the untrained eye, it may just look like fun and games. But within those moments of giggles and glue sticks lies something truly magical: deep, meaningful learning.
In this article, discover how play supports vital early development, how BIS Abu Dhabi brings the EYFS curriculum to life through play, and why protecting this joyful, purposeful approach to learning is more important than ever.
