Secondary Campus Weekly Update

Secondary Campus Weekly Update - Secondary Campus Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

We are excited to share a week full of celebrations and opportunities to showcase our students’ talents. We warmly invite you to join us for the Year 12 Recital Evening on Wednesday 28th May, followed by the Key Stage 3 Student-Led Conferences on Thursday 29th May, where you can see firsthand the progress and learning of your children. The week will culminate with the Year 13 Graduation on Friday 30th May, a special event marking an important milestone for our senior students. We look forward to welcoming you to these wonderful events and celebrating together.

Congratulations to the students below (Nicholas, William, Ryan, Sarah, Max, Katelyn and Carly) who attended and represented NAIS Hong Kong at Battle of the Books at Sha Tin College. I received a lovely email from a member of the public who attended the event, they were so impressed by the outstanding efforts of our students and the respectful way they engaged with their competitors.

Swimming Gala Information

Secondary Swimming Gala at Kwun Tong Swimming Pool
Friday 6th June 2025

Our Secondary Swimming Gala will take place at Kwun Tong Swimming Pool on Friday 6th June, from 8:00am – 2.45pm. Year 7, 8, 9 students will attend the event. This event is part of the students swimming assessment and so attendance, and participation is expected from all KS3 students.

Year 7, 8 & 9 students should make their own way to the Swimming Pool for 8.00am, where they will be registered before the start of the gala. For students who take the morning bus into school, there will be a drop off at Kwun Tong Swimming Pool. Students need to ensure they board the correct bus at Lam Tin.

At 2.45pm, once the swimming gala is finished, students will be dismissed from the pool to go home directly.

Please note that Year 10 and Year 12 students will attend school as normal on this day.

Key information about the Swimming Gala

The closest MTR station is Kwun Tong. The Swimming Pool is about a 5-minute walk from Exit D1. Please note there is no parking at the Swimming Pool.

The programme of events is below. The schedule may change at short notice, but we will still aim to finish the whole day by no later than 2.45pm.

Students should wear their PE kit shorts with House top for the day and are advised to bring the following:

  • NAIS swimming costume (if they have one) and NAIS swimming hat
  • Swimming goggles (spares in case of breakage)
  • Towel
  • Flip Flops or Slides for poolside/changing rooms
  • Spare dry clothes
  • Filled personal water bottle (water will be available)
  • Food and snacks for the event (No students will be allowed to leave the Swimming Pool during their event and there are no food outlets on site)
  • Lockers are available in the changing rooms at a refundable cost of $2 coin. We recommend students to lock their valuables away for the day or do not bring them to the swimming pool on the day. They are responsible for all their belongings in the stands for the day.

Spectators will sit in the stands behind the students’ seating areas. Please register by clicking on this link if you would like to spectate.

No photography or filming will be allowed as per the Swimming Pool regulations. We will have the school photographer on site to take photos of the day, and these will be shared via the Parent Update.

We look forward to seeing the students competing in what I am sure will be a fantastic day!

Match Reports

U12 Boys Football
Our U12 boys team travelled to Kellett School on Wednesday 21st May. A larger squad than usual made the journey following the commitment shown by all in training this year and when given the opportunity to play. A dominant first half was only overshadowed by the slim lead of 2-0 at half time. A quick start to the second half saw the lead extended to 4-0. A legitimate 5th goal was scored only to be ignored by the referee owing to a malfunctioning goal net. Well done to all 15 players involved for the quality and work rate. The core could easily have been doubled on another day.

U14 Netball
On Tuesday 20th May the U14 Netball squad travelled to VSA. We dominated in the first quarter and finished 12-0 in the lead. By half time we were 22-2 ahead. With the mercy rule then in effect, it meant we had won the game. We made several changes over the last 2 quarters, really mixing up the team and having our players try out other positions. With this win, it puts the squad in a good position at possibly reaching the semi-finals, with 2 league games to go. Let’s go Knights!

On Thursday 22nd May the U14 Netball squad travelled to HAR. It was extremely warm, and the team were worried the heat would affect their playing. However, despite their worry the team pushed through. The nerves about the heat showed in the first quarter as it took a while for the team to get into their stride, only narrowly finishing the quarter in the lead by 1 goal. By half time the heat was taking its toll on the team, but they knew if they wanted to secure their place in the semi-finals, they needed to win this game. After a change around of positions and some substitutions at half time, the team found a new determination and pulled away from Harrow in the third quarter, leading 16 – 11. Hot and tired the team gritted through the final quarter to finish the game 22-14. Well done to all the players, as it was a tough afternoon. Only 1 game left of the league to determine our semi-final place. Go Knights.

Year 12 Recital Evening – Mrs. Yu

On Wednesday evening we were treated to some truly high-level music performances by our Year 12 IB Music students. 30% of their course requires them to capture live recordings of public performances related to Areas of Inquiry within the course. We were taken on a journey hearing a variety of music from all corners of the world on violins, flute, cello, vocals and acoustic guitar. Parents and students alike thoroughly enjoyed the smaller intimate performances, and we look forward to hosting more of these for our exam students in the future.

Congratulations to Natalie K, Frances L, Leonardo P, Jasmine S, Harrison T and Cory W for entertaining us and completing a portion of the IB coursework.
