Lunar New Year Celebration at BISB: A Day of Fun and Togetherness
The Lunar New Year celebrations at BISB began with a lively and fun assembly hosted by Jason and Sonia. Their energy set the tone for the rest of the day, filled with activities that brought everyone together.
After the assembly, students got creative with art projects during tutorial time. Ms. Evans had prepared materials for the students, and tutors led the activities, guiding everyone to create beautiful art pieces that connected to the traditions of the Lunar New Year. The fun continued at lunchtime, with ink painting and calligraphy sessions where students could further explore the cultural aspects of the holiday.
Our tutors added their personal touch to the celebrations, too. Ms. Herbert’s (Year 9 Topaz) form room, for example, was decorated with colorful and festive decorations that really brought the spirit of the holiday to life. It’s amazing to see how events like this can unite us and showcase how we all celebrate the arrival of spring in our own special ways.
It was a wonderful way to come together and celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Snake—a year that promises to be as long as it is full of potential, lasting 384 days!

Lunar New Year Celebration
After learning about Attila József for a few lessons, our Hungarian teacher led us on a Year arrival, we stepped into a truly delightful inner garden, adorned with exquisite flowers.
Year 9 Service Learning project, under the name of Wellbeing Fair, was a huge success! Everyone in our year group has been preparing for months to be able to deliver such a result. The collaboration work was well spread out, with people from Sapphire writing some positive notes, taking smiling photos and organising a fitness challenge. Jade was hard at work making sure that everything goes well at their bake sale, and their football event. Ruby created a quiz, had a juice bar, and organised a penalty shootout.
The BISB WOLVES Secondary Girls' and Boys' Volleyball teams have wrapped up a short but action-packed season, demonstrating remarkable growth, resilience, and sportsmanship in both the Danube Valley Athletic Conference (DVAC) festivals, tournaments and the BISL Budapest Cup.
