Admissions are now open for 2025/2026
In Primary, children were encouraged to express their voices and actively participate in choosing many of their own activities. They explored the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, gaining a deeper understanding of their rights, including the right to play, access to education, and having their opinions respected. Additionally, they learned that these rights come with responsibilities, reflecting on how they can demonstrate these responsibilities in their daily lives.
In Secondary, students engaged in thoughtful discussions and activities centered around the importance of childhood, both locally and globally. They explored what childhood means, how it is different across the world and reflecting on the experience of other children's childhood. Opportunities of discussion led to students considering how they can play an active role in promoting their rights as part of the Convention on the Child.
As part of our ongoing commitment to empowering students, we are excited to announce a school-wide competition: ‘Be a Principal for a Day!’ In honour of World Children’s Day, we want to hear from our students! It’s time to have their say and voices heard. The lucky winner will get a chance to be Principal or Head of School for the day and have the chance to see their ideas put into practise. We can’t wait to see the creative ways that showcase our children’s leadership and visions.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a learning environment at home where our students can continue to reflect, engage and inspire positive change. We look forward to seeing the creative ideas that emerge from this competition!

It’s something I’ve believed for a long time — that learning isn’t predetermined by our genes. It’s about growing, persevering, and learning through the process. I was really mindful of this idea at this week’s wonderful Primary Summer Concert, after which I found myself reflecting on whether these amazing children have an innate talent, or whether they have achieved so much because of hard work and practice.
I believe it’s the latter. These children, their parents, and their teachers all seem to share the belief that by trying and working hard, they will get better at what they do. This is what we call a growth mindset.
This week at BIS Abu Dhabi, we have had the joy of celebrating both ends of the school journey and it has been a beautiful reminder of how we support our students to dream big and grow into their future selves.
At BIS Abu Dhabi, inclusion isn’t a separate initiative, it’s the foundation of everything we do. From the moment a student joins us, they are welcomed into a caring, respectful, and inclusive environment, guided by the values of Kindness, Honesty, and Respect. Discover how this ethos shapes every classroom, corridor, and connection in our school community in this blog.
As exam season unfolds, there's a special kind of stillness that settles over the school. In the quiet hum of the examination hall, behind the rustle of papers and the soft clicking of keyboards, is a profound truth: we are witnessing a moment that our students will carry with them forever. It is the culmination of years of learning, growth, and perseverance, a chapter closing and a new one ready to be written.
