Admissions are now open for 2025/2026
Firstly, my warm wishes to everyone for the return to school following the Spring Break. I fully appreciate this is an uncertain time, but I hope students still managed some quality rest and relaxation.
I would also like to thank all parents for their wonderful support this week. Managing this new situation will be change for many and I know so many parents have been working closely with their children as they get to grips with this new learning. We are aware this may not be easy at times, but we can already see that students benefit from your support and your efforts are very much worth it!
I would also like to take this opportunity to officially recognise the hard work of the BIS Abu Dhabi staff. So many spent countless hours during their holiday preparing videos and resources for this week so the students can have a great start. Their commitment to their classes remains as strong as ever. Please also know that they will be available for the students every day, and even if they can’t reply immediately, they will always get back to you and to the students to help them every step of the way.
We’ll be sending out a brief survey later this week to gain some initial feedback on this first week of virtual education. Please do complete this for us – it is great to know what is working well and any advice to help for the following week will be gratefully received.
Finally, just to confirm that, at the time of writing, we still await further guidance regarding school operations beyond these initial two weeks. We will of course let parents know as soon as we do, and rest assured that plans are fully in place to continue with virtual schooling for a longer period if advised to do so.
Please stay safe everyone. Patience and care for each other will help see us through and hopefully a return to normality as soon as possible.

It’s something I’ve believed for a long time — that learning isn’t predetermined by our genes. It’s about growing, persevering, and learning through the process. I was really mindful of this idea at this week’s wonderful Primary Summer Concert, after which I found myself reflecting on whether these amazing children have an innate talent, or whether they have achieved so much because of hard work and practice.
I believe it’s the latter. These children, their parents, and their teachers all seem to share the belief that by trying and working hard, they will get better at what they do. This is what we call a growth mindset.
This week at BIS Abu Dhabi, we have had the joy of celebrating both ends of the school journey and it has been a beautiful reminder of how we support our students to dream big and grow into their future selves.
As exam season unfolds, there's a special kind of stillness that settles over the school. In the quiet hum of the examination hall, behind the rustle of papers and the soft clicking of keyboards, is a profound truth: we are witnessing a moment that our students will carry with them forever. It is the culmination of years of learning, growth, and perseverance, a chapter closing and a new one ready to be written.
