NAE Global Campus received a staggering 3,300 entries from 66 Nord Anglia schools all around the world, and one student from STA shone bright, winning Best in Show in the Art Music category: a big congratulations to Freya in Year 8 for her truly outstanding achievement and stellar performance!
The prestigious Global Campus Virtual Young Musician of the Year 2025 competition brings together talented young musicians, allowing students to share their musical skills on a global stage. With hundreds of entries, being named Best in Show is a remarkable accomplishment and one that Freya has earned through her hard work, dedication, and musical talent.
Freya’s performance of An Sylvia by Schubert won in the Art Music: Voice Solo category, age group 11-14, receiving high praise. Rachel Calloway, a graduate of Juilliard, a professional Mezzo-Soprano singer, and internationally recognized leading interpreter of contemporary and modern music, was the Guest Judge and commented on Freya’s performance, “Beautiful tone – natural and easy sound with beautiful spin! Good German diction and an expressive and lovely performance. Congratulations!”
In the coming weeks, Freya and the school choir will have an inspiring Masterclass with Rachel, delving into the art of vocal harmony and performance.

Freya is a passionate and committed musician who has shown great enthusiasm for developing her skills, both in and out of the classroom, and her success is a wonderful reflection of her incredible skill and determination.
Along with Freya’s wonderful news, Mee-Wan in Year 13 also received an Honourable Mention, with Rachel praising her “wonderful sound!”.

About Global Campus Virtual Young Musician of the Year Competition
The Nord Anglia Education Global Campus Virtual Young Musician of the Year Competition is an annual event that celebrates the musical proficiency of students across Nord Anglia Education (NAE) schools worldwide, offering a diverse array of categories to accommodate various musical talents in two main sections Art Music and Popular Music, and with seven categories each including; Vocal Solo, Instrumental Solo, Vocal Ensemble, Instrumental Ensemble, Piano, Composition and Musical Production. These categories are divided into two main sections and by age groups (7-10 years, 11-14 years, 15-19 years). Participants submitted video performance entries, which were evaluated by a panel of judges, and winners were selected in each category and age group.
