St. Andrews International School Bangkok is very proud to be running the BTEC Entry Level 3 and Level 1 Hospitality Award and Certificate course from January 2017, linking closely with local businesses such as Steps with Theera (Café/coffee shop and vocational training centre on Ekkamai Soi 10). At this stage, BTEC will be complimenting the current IGCSE and IB programs, developing further in the future when St. Andrews International School Bangkok plans on delivering the Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications which are the equivalent to IGCSEs and IB/A Levels respectively.
BTEC is a world renowned and respected UK vocational qualification chosen by over 1 million learners worldwide every year. BTEC, founded by Pearson, (who also offer IGCSE’s via Edexcel), offer a range of professional qualifications for anyone taking their first steps into the world of work, progressing through their careers, or planning to enter university. When combined with academic learning in a school (or as a stand-alone course in further or higher education), a BTEC develops a range of practical knowledge and skills which help learners to prepare for – and progress in – their chosen career.
Chosen by over 1 million students each year, BTECs are skills-based qualifications that will help students develop the practical real-world knowledge, experience and skills that are needed to progress and succeed throughout academic and professional life.
Classroom style teaching combined with project work and practical, work-related activities help to develop students' behavioural skills, which can include teamwork, creative thinking and presentation skills. More employers and higher education institutions than ever before are choosing BTEC-qualified candidates for their academic and practical knowledge and skills. Units are tailored made to meet the learning style and needs of the student’s, who create a portfolio of evidence rather than sit exams.
At St Andrews Bangkok, we’re proud to offer the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP)—a pathway that blends academic excellence with real-world learning. Designed for students with a passion for a particular career field, the IBCP allows them to gain practical skills, IB-level academics, and global perspectives to prepare for university and beyond.
With access to career-related studies, IB Diploma courses, and personal development opportunities, our students build the confidence and experience needed to take their next steps. Whether pursuing higher education or entering the professional world, the IBCP ensures they are future-ready.
