Open Days
We were very happy to be able to welcome our parents again in our school last week to share all the exciting things that are going on right now as well as our plans for this academic year. For us as the Shanghai Dutch School, part of BISS, it is especially important to create opportunities to meet our Dutch-speaking community.
The students were eager to show their parents their new SDS classrooms and the library. It was a joy to see how proud they were and how meaningful a gathering like this can be. After the presentation and tour, there was time for questions and for sharing experiences.
The collaboration between the Shanghai Dutch School and the British International School is in its tenth year and has become a strong and mutually supportive relationship. The SDS offers teaching in Dutch Language across both the Primary and Secondary Schools and is authorised by the Dutch Department of Culture, Education and Science, through the NOB foundation, in cooperation with the Dutch Education Inspectorate to offer Dutch education to students overseas.
An example of the collaboration between the schools is the upcoming European Week of Languages which features activities themed on the Netherlands and the Dutch language.
We are very much looking forward to organising many more events for our community this year and to working together to support our students. Coming up shortly is Prinjesday, for which we plan to welcome the Dutch Consul-General to the school.

BISS film students receive this unique opportunity with the top film producer after winning the Nord Anglia Global Campus Film Festival Competition. This competition involved 960 students from 22 Nord Anglia schools worldwide.
